The gift of life is a gift of love.

If you are pregnant and feel like you are not ready to care for a child, you have a unique opportunity to give the gift of life to a couple not able to have a child on their own.

What is adoption?

Adoption is a legal act of permanently placing a child with parents other than the biological or birth parents. The adoptive parents become legally responsible for the child and the child is entitled to all privileges belonging to a natural child of the adoptive parents.

Most adoption agencies offer a variety of adoptions plans:

  • Open Adoption Plan – Continuous contact with the adoptive parents and the child throughout the child’s life.
  • Semi-Open Adoption – No contact with the child, but updates and photos from the adoption agency or adoptive family.
  • Closed or Confidential Adoption Plan – No contact with the child or adoptive family.

There are so many parents out there who are willing to give your child a loving home. You can be involved in the process of selecting the adoptive family for your child – or you can decide to not be involved at all. It is up to you.

There are plenty of resources available to help you through your pregnancy – including financial assistance, pre- and post-natal health care, a safe place to stay and counseling.

Adoption is a courageous, selfless act – one both you and your child can live with. You owe it to yourself and your unborn child to look into the possibilities.

 My name is Emily.

I am so lucky my mother gave me life.  When my mother found out she was going to have a baby, her partner gave her the telephone number of an adoption agency.  That call saved my life.  I now have two mothers; my birth mommy and my adopted mommy.  My adopted mother lost two babies.  Both my mommies got together and named me.  My parents make me smile and giggle when they talk and sing to me.  They even kiss me when I sometimes wake them at 3:00 am! I have grandparents, and WOW, ten cousins! Someday my parents will tell me about you, my birth mother.  I love you as you love me. Thank you! Grandpa says you are a fine lady.

Love, Emily  (born Spring 2015)
